About Lanes Hotel

Lanes is an independent, owner-operated hotel in the Somerset village of West Coker, just outside Yeovil. Our approach is friendly, flexible and personal, supported by a longstanding local team who know the hotel and many of our returning guests well.

The hotel brings together the warm hamstone of a former rectory and almshouse with carefully designed modern additions. Today, Lanes has 30 individually styled bedrooms, Lanes Brasserie, a bar, gym and four acres of gardens.

A hotel with its own character

The historic main building, which has served as both an almshouse and a rectory, retains its traditional hamstone exterior and the individual proportions of an older property. Inside, contemporary glass, light filled public spaces and modern bedrooms sit comfortably beside the original architecture.

A newer wing continues the same use of hamstone and glass. Outside, four acres of gardens provide plenty of space for guests to sit, walk and enjoy the quieter side of West Coker.

Lanes Brasserie and bar

Lanes Brasserie welcomes hotel guests, local residents and visitors to West Coker for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our menus follow the seasons, combining familiar brasserie dishes with fresh ingredients and produce from local suppliers where possible.

The bar offers local Somerset ciders, beers, wines, spirits and cocktails, whether you are meeting for a drink, dining in the brasserie or settling in after a day’s work or exploring.

Independently run, personally looked after

Lanes has been privately owned and operated by the same owners for the past 11 years. Decisions are made here at the hotel, allowing us to be flexible, respond personally and get to know the guests and businesses that return to us regularly.

Our team combines long experience with a relaxed, friendly approach. We want Lanes to feel well run and comfortable, without becoming formal or impersonal.
